Why I buy second hand – fashion?

It might sound like a joke, but did you know that the fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world?  It does sound very scary and it made me to become more conscious about my fashion-related purchases, which led me to switching to the second-hand fashion as that is simply a good deal! I have listed below my top 5 reasons why I choose to buy second-hand fashion over the brand new one!

  1.  Good for environment
It is widely known that the fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world coming in second right after oil industry.  it even surpasses that of transportation! Therefore any action that could help to reduce the demand for fashion goods is good for the environment and the planet as the whole that is why I choose to buy second-hand fashion as that is simply good for everyone!
  2. Get more for your money  There are many practical reasons why buying the second-hand fashion is good for us and of the main is that it helps us to save a lot of money! It is no secret that you can get tons of bargains when you buy second-hand fashion and that means more money for other things, such as holiday! 🙂 Below in the images you can see me wearing Louis Vuitton Alma bag that I brought on www.inseller.com at 50% off the original retail price.
  3. Increase the lifecycle of your items                                We all  have many fashion related items such as clothes or bags that perfectly good to wear but we are simply tired of them and we just want something new!  There is nothing wrong with that as long as you ensure that those unwanted items are up for grabs via one of the many consignment or charity stores.  As while for you these items might be old and unwanted for someone it might mean the exact opposite!
  4. Build your unique style   Buying second-hand fashion allows you to build your own fashion identity independent of what is being promoted by the big fashion houses.  That used vintage handbag might be even a bigger head-turner than the latest bag from one of the fashion powerhouses!
  5. Help to turn the tide within the fashion industry    Sustainable fashion is taking up headlines and you as a consumer can help to strengthen the movement, which will in turn make the big fashion labels and especially the fast fashion producers to adopt more sustainable business practices that will not be so harmful to the environment and communities.                                                                                                                                                                                       I hope that these arguments will help you to make up your mind and encourage you to choose second-hand fashion as well! Do not be afraid of it, there are only good things to be found!!
